Vanessa Burrowes

Vanessa Burrowes is currently a PhD student in the Global Disease Epidemiology and Control Program within the International Health Department at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Her research interests range from understanding the ecology and epidemiology of the gut microbiome, environmental enteropathy, and growth outcomes in Bangladeshi children, to understanding exposure assessment and health outcomes of indoor household air pollution from traditional cookstoves in Peruvian populations for her current work.  She is currently conducting her dissertation research with Dr. William Checkley as part of the NIH Household Air Pollution Investigation Network (HAPIN) in Puno, Peru. Vanessa intends to continue her research in both of these areas and extend this knowledge towards therapeutic applications in the future.
